Better Times Ahead at Good Robot Brewing Co. with Better Times Comedy. Every Thursday we aim to bring the best of the Halifax comedy scene and beyond, from seasoned pros to up-and-comers. Clare Belford continues to make waves, bringing her authentic delivery and unique brand of preposterous pragmatism to festivals like the New York Comedy Festival, Halifax Comedy Festival, Hubcap Comedy Festival, Field Trip Festival, JFL 42, North by Northeast and in 2022 she was selected to perform as part of New Faces Canada at Just For Laughs in Montreal. Her debut album, The Entire Cabbage was released in August 2021 and chosen as one of the year’s best comedy albums by NPR Originally hailing from PEI, Dan Hendricken is one of the top comics to come out of the Maritimes. He cut his teeth in comedy at comedy clubs in Halifax and in just a few short years was featured on CBC TV as part of the Halifax Comedy Festival. Dan was the winner of the 2015 HubCap Comedy Festival’s CBC Open-Mic Contest and has since gone on to tour all over the country as a headlining comic. Dan has been seen on CBC TV and heard on CBC Radio (with CBC’s LOL) and has performed on the Halifax Comedy Festival and Hubcap Comedy Festival. Fans find Dan charming and hilarious. Often seen mixing her stand-up with music and drawings, she’s a staple in Canada’s alt-comedy scene. Her debut stand-up album “Baba Luba” has received critical acclaim: NPR’s Bullseye With Jesse Thorn described it as “enthusiastic, warm, and weird” in their 2022 Stand-Up Comedy Spectacular, amongst acts such as Tig Notaro, Jen Kirkman, and Roy Wood Jr. Paste Magazine listed it #10 in their Best Comedy Albums of 2022, describing it as “equal parts clever and nonsensical with her creative wordplay”.
